Beowulf: Final Project

Introduction
The book we read was Beowulf set in the year 450 A.D. and it’s a story about King Hrothgar who is cursed by demons of hell. They came during the night. One is called Grendel he is greedy for mans flesh and blood. His mother is to feared to be named. The she-evil is demon snake that is black as jet. His father is a non-demon. His name is Cain the son of Adam & Eve who kill his brother Abel. When Beowulf heard about the tell of the murderess demon Grendel in the land of the Geats he said that he will go to the land of the Danes to kill this demon and send it back to hell. Once we were done with the book we watch two movies. One was the 13th warrior which was a movie based on Beowulf. The second movie we watched was Beowulf: Directors Cut.

The Better Movie
I personal preferred Beowulf: Directors Cut because it fallowed the story line and plot very well. There were some similarities that were same between the book version on and the poem version for ex. In the poem version unferth gives Beowulf his sword. Some of the characters were how I image them. And the setting was pretty accurate. If I were you, I would read the poem version for the simple fact that you will see more similarities with that version than you do with the book version.

Chapter Five Summary

In chapter five Beowulf told his story about Breca and him. Breca was Beowulf Friend that race him in the ocean. The Apple that Beowulf had his men pick were very good tasting, he ate the whole apple, he handed one to the king the king took a bite of the apple and said that the apple was not to sweet nor to sour. Unferth sneered when he saw Beowulf teeth that were rotting. The king touched the scars on his face that Grendal gave him. The king knew Beowulf's father Ecgtheow. The queen defends Beowulf when Unferth scoffed at what the queen said, but when the queen said "He admits to his weaknesses and in the admitting they become strengths..."

I'll have a complete summary of the whole book at a later date.

The Odyssey

It starts with the Lotus Land in which Odysseus and his men find black people with this very sweet fruit called the Lotus Fruits and Odysseus men eat the fruits and become happy, drunk from the fruit and don't remember who they there are and who they are with. Odysseus is smart and does not eat the fruit and so does not become happy and drunk like his men. The black people tack offense to him not eating the fruit.

Next is when Odysseus and his men find cave with sheep inside it. But those sheep belonged to a Cyclopes which kill four of Odysseus men which in return he put a spear in the Cyclopes eye. The Cyclopes was the son of the God of the Sea. The Cyclopes yelled out his fathers name and his father ask him who did this and his son said nobody did this. But the god knew Odysseus had done this to his son.

            I’m the movie going to talk about is about Easy Company of the 101^st airborne 506^th parachute infantry regiment also known as the Band of Brothers. First I will talk about the interviews then about special effects and finally I will talk a little about the Airborne and Easy Company.

            Major Dick Winter was with Easy Company from training to the jump into Normandy to the push into Germany. Bill Goners was nickname “Wild Bill” because the day before the jump he found out that his brother was KIA in Italy. So when dick winters said to get into posited he did but as soon as the Germans were in sight he open fire from then on they call him “Wild Bill.”

            The special effects in the Band of Brothers was awesome. They used real guns, uniforms, and tanks from World War 2. They used the Sherman M4 tank that the Allied used and Panzer and Tiger tanks that the Germans used. They also used the Browning .50 cal., M1A1 Bazooka, Thomson SMG, Luger, Walter P38, MP40, M1Grand, Mortar, Browning .30 cal., Flak 88, MG42, Mouser, Flak 38, AA .50 cal, and wore German Uniforms, U.S. Uniforms, and British Uniforms.

            The 101^st Airborne was formed during World War 2. They had intense training at camp Cheeha were Easy Company was formed. Easy Company Jump into Normandy then Belgium than Denmark then Germany. The pay for the Airborne was $50 a week.

            In conciliation the Band of Brothers were on the Front line all of the time. When they were in Europe they suffered the highest casualties of 150 percent of there Unit.
